In addition to the theoretical approach, the course includes practical, explanatory examples which make the learning process easier (e.g. the economic models for benefit measurement) or help those who make use of project management tools like Primavera or Project to manage and control their projects better (e.g. Earned Value Management is fully explained and modeled both in Primavera and Project).

Course Objectives:
- To introduce students to the fundamentals of project management from a PMI® perspective. The students will be able to understand what a project really is, how can it be managed and conducted to get deliverables in time and in budget, with the expected level of quality. They will be able to identify and analyze stakeholder and their needs, how to plan the project and how to track the progress, how to deal with risks and what the project closing involves.
- To create a strong link between the theoretical concepts and the practice of project management through examples and case studies, applied with project management software tools – Primavera and Project. The students will be able to understand the basic functionalities and to make use of primary project management and planning tools like Primavera and MS Project. They will see how this software tools emulate the concepts of project management according to the PMI®
- To give students a set of useful skills and tools they can make use of them immediately to properly carry out their job as a project team member. For example, the students will be able to understand and apply basic techniques for project analysis/selection using economic models like Payback Period, NPV, and IRR.
- To help current project managers to reach their goal to become a PMP® The students will be able to correlate their own practice with the PMI® methodology and to align/improve their skills and knowledge so they can get more confidence in approaching of the PMP® Exam.
- To orient the young newcomers to the range of methodology, topics and occupations those characterize the field of project management. There will be a significant step in terms of knowledge of project management which can make possible more and more further options in the students’ professional development.
